Some of the girls who are Canary

This is Kat and Rhiann who along with Rebecca wrote a song called "Didn't mean to be so angry" which is very good.
It might even be a hit on FBI if they sent it to them.
Will they write another?
Not sure.
But they had a great time doing this one and sing very well together.
Maybe they need some more encouragement?

Hanne's Musique Concrete

This is a very clever piece of audio editing to create a musical piece by Screen student Hanne Oconnor.
Using the techniques of an old French Fella named Pierre Schaffer she has come up with this funky track,
Enjoy.

Smoking Celebrations

Yesterday we had some very talented and wonderful indigenous Australians out to the campus to do a dance and a smoking ceremony as part of Naidoc week. The smoking cleans the place of bad spirits or energy. Uncle Max performed the ceremony, cleaned the college and smoked me and I must admit I felt instantly better.(It had been a stressful morning) The dancers were from the Descendance dance group and they got everyone up and shaking their stuff including the College Director and I. Then there was a great feed of kangeroo, emu and croc which was needed after all the dancing. Must get some more of that emu as I had never tried it and it was rather tasty. I took a bunch of shots on our new digital camera and it made me realise I should read the manuals. Here are some of the better shots for you to enjoy.

The birth of "Set to Flame"

Man ya gotta listen to this track.
"Feed the thoughts of sound"
It goes off big time. It's hard,it's heavey with just a touch of melody.
Music mostly by Aaron with excutiating vocals by Christian, drum pounded by the exceptional rythmatist Jacob all from schools aroung the shire.
Careful your ears will bleed!

Mr Dave Marett

This man has worked on so many classic Australian albums it is not funny.
And he works here with me.
I have to pinch myself.
If only I could go back in time and tell my high school friends.
"In the future I 'll work with the guy who recorded Computer Games"
Man someone would have bought me a chicko roll.

Congratulations to Raen

Wow the bureaucrats got it right for once.
Our very own Raen Fraser has been giving a young filmmakers fund grant.
As every one around here knows this woman is brilliant and I especially like her weird stop animation effort if your good she might show it too you.
I don't know much about her script but it's bound to be brilliant and I can only hope to bask in her reflected glory when she scoops the pool at Cannes.
She also looks ravishing in a pink wig but I'm not game to post the photo.
So bad luck .
Instead here's a photo of another star teacher and his eager pupils.
This is Hussayn, documentary maker and without a doubt a true gentleman and a scholar to boot.
